Mr Plumber Please Help
This house owner had a smelly problem. Not only were the toilets and basins / sinks etc. in the house not flowing away but there was the smell. Sewerage drains running under a house can often cause a smell to permeate up through the floor. This was happening here and so far the several plumbing companies who had been to have a bash had given up.
Don’t Worry We Are Here
Experience, experience and more experience that’s what counts in a problem like this. Tracing pipework you can’t see is never going to be easy but in this case, we cracked it! As you see in the photo “getting warmer” confidence is also needed to start chopping up somebody’s floor. We were right and the cutting of the main flooring showed a chamber (see photo “found it”) which appeared to have had a sump pump installed many years ago, which had now stopped working. The photo “hidden in the house” gives a good view of what was hidden!
Right, Lets Get the Jetter Going
So, we set up the high-pressure jetting equipment and cleared the blockage in what is known as an Interceptor. An Interceptor is basically a “U” bend which just like the bend under your sink / basin / shower etc. holds water all the time. This simple but effective solution stops smells entering the house from that part of the waste pipework. In fact, the old sump pump was not going to be needed once the Interceptor had been properly jetted through and cleared.
Ok Its Floor Back Time
Another satisfied customer ———-well almost——-now it’s the hard bit ————putting the floor back as best we can. With the help of some carpentry skills from our engineer and some new chipboard we got it right first time. The large section in “put this back later-jigsaw time “was of course the last to go back and of we went into the sunset looking for another problem to crack!
